I’ve been married for over 22 years. In that time my husband and I have had many ups and downs. Just like everyone else’s marriage, it’s never a walk in the park. But one of the things we realized is that the tougher the issue, the stronger we worked together.
It can be hard to make time for each other. Especially when you have small children. You are busy building a family; working hard to provide and keep those kids in order. I think that’s why a lot of marriages fail. Too often, making time for a husband and wife gets put by the wayside to focus on the kids in the critical years of a marriage.
Everyone is busy and when you reach a certain point in your life when the kids are grown and you find it’s time to reconnect with your hubby or wife, you may feel it’s a difficult thing to do. Maybe you’ve lost that connection and that spark you used to have. Maybe you feel you don’t even know your spouse any more.
That’s why I was really excited to be able to review these two books. Mark and Susan Merrill are bringing a simple steps to bring back and get to the marriage you want. Here are my thoughts.

Thoughts on Lists To Love By For Busy Husbands/Wives by Mark and Susan Merrill
I have to admit I don’t think I’m a great wife sometimes. I’ve always been a very busy woman with work. Then when I had my child, it got busy in a different way too.
Our family went through medical emergencies with effects that will last forever. That also caused a disconnection between my husband and I.
Lists to Love By for Busy Wives and Lists to Love By for Busy Husbands are perfect companion books that will help find that lost connection and strengthen those vows you took. The books are small in size yet large in information and tasks.
Inside it’s broken down by lists and action items. For instance, in the Busy Wives book, list number three is Five Powerful Words for your Marriage. Words are so powerful in many ways. They can hurt and they can heal. Everyone needs to hear certain things on a daily basis, whether it is encouragement, appreciation, respect, caring, etc.
The action section of the chapter includes an area where you list words that are important to your husband and then list words that are important to you. Then how do you need to focus to bring those words into fruition.
That’s just one example in this book. Other examples would be:
* 10 texts to send to your husband.
* 8 expectations for a great marriage.
* 8 keys to understanding what your husband is saying.
* 11 things a husband and wife must agree on.
And so on with 30 lists altogether to work through.
In Lists To Love By For Busy Husbands it is a similar structure. There are also 30 different lists that are similar to the Busy Wives book.
You can find lists like:
* 3 things to remember about marriage
* 7 things husband should stop doing
* 5 unfair expectations you may have of your wife
And many many more.
I love the fact that together you can work on these but yet they can be private too. With each person having their own book, you can focus on what you need to work on and share when you want to.
The action items are simple but yet make you think. These two books would make a wonderful gift for a newlywed couple or a couple that has been married for many years and want to get closer, like my husband and I.
I am gifting these books to us this Christmas. We both have things to work on and with many more years ahead of us, these books can only help us get stronger together.
