Keeping Your Skin Beautiful While Enjoying the Sun

During the summer months many of us spend a lot of time outdoors enjoying the warmer weather and sunshine. It is very important to properly protect your skin from the harmful and damaging UVA and UVB rays. Here are a few skin care tips to keep your skin protected, moisturized and radiant throughout the summer months.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and just like all of your internal organs, it needs to be taken care of properly. If you are heading outdoors for any length of time you need to apply a sunscreen and most experts recommend a sunscreen containing SPF 30 or higher. If you sweat a lot or if you will be in or near water, you should use a sunscreen that is waterproof or water resistant and reapply it every 2 hours. After spending any amount of time out in the sun it is important to follow up with a high-quality after-sun lotion or body moisturizer as the sun can dry out your skin. A cool bath or cool shower can also help to re-hydrate your skin. Another great skin hydration tip is to drink plenty of water during and after sun exposure. If your skin gets very dry during the summertime you can try a good exfoliator while showering by using a great sugar scrub or salt scrub which are great for sloughing off your dead skin cells. You should always follow up with a good body moisturizer, body cream or body butter after exfoliating your skin.
