Ignite on Contact by Jaci Burton cover

I could have sworn I’ve read Jaci Burton stories before. As I look down her list of books that she’s published alongside of many anthologies that include other authors I’ve read multiple times, there’s no doubt in my mind I’ve read a story by her.

However, as a standalone, this appears to be my first story that I have been able to review for this author.

A great introduction to her work, check out this friends to lovers story.

ABOUT:
Relationships. Firefighter Rafe Donovan avoids them whenever possible. He loves dating women, but he makes sure they know up front that he’s in it for fun, great sex and nothing more.

Fun. As an ER nurse and official caretaker of her disabled grandfather, Carmen Lewis doesn’t have time for fun. But Rafe has been there for Carmen–and her grandfather–time and again, and he’s clearly interested in her. She knows he’s a player, but she’s tempted by his charm and incredible body. And maybe a little fun isn’t a bad thing, as long as she keeps her heart away from this fiery game she’s enjoying with a very hot man.

Love. It doesn’t take Rafe long to realize that until now he’s only been playing at romance. With Carmen he feels searing passion and heart-tugging emotion for the first time. Now he has to convince Carmen that what they have together is the real deal.

Ignite on Contact by Jaci Burton Review

There’s nothing like a good friends to lovers romance especially when we get to enjoy a great guy like Rafe. Fireman and deliciously hot, he made the story what it is. He is kind and considerate and Burton’s description of him is definitely drool-worthy.

I really enjoyed the female character, Carmen. She’s a hard-working, dedicated nurse that takes care of her grandfather. Her problem is that she’s hiding. She’s been through crap and it’s not looking for any type of relationship. She’s just looking for a hook up. Friends with benefits. Nothing wrong with that.

Carmen and Rafe have it made being neighbors. After all, it can be really convenient when you need to scratch that itch. Yum!

I really love the way their relationship progressed until the end. Carmen had a major meltdown and drama that really did not help the story and made the ending much less pleasurable for me. Rafe took it all in stride and became the one chasing her again. It really should’ve been her. Grrr

Overall, the story was a wonderful read. Great build up, super hot sexy times and a sweet addition to the series. Burton really delivers the goods in this delightful romance. I cannot wait to read more from her! I have so many books to catch up on!

4 Stars!
