When I saw the title of this book I knew I had to read and review it. No one wants to admit we’re getting older. I fight it every minute of the day.
With oils and creams, the way I dress, the way I style my hair, even my juvenile sense of humor helps me forget the number of birthdays I’ve had.
But I also realize with age comes wisdom. I’ve been learning a lot about myself over the past few years. I’ve been learning about what I will tolerate. I’ve learned that I prefer my own company rather than be with people I don’t like.
I’ve also learned to trust in God for my needs. Always be grateful and thankful for every blessing, every day. Even when something that could be negative happens I chalk it up to the fact that it’s not was not meant for me at this time. Something better always comes out of it.
How to Age Without Getting Old by Joyce Meyer Review
Meyer decided to take on this topic because as women we tend to skip a lot of the self-care that’s required for us to embrace rest, the quiet, and quit doing so much every day without taking care of ourselves first. We forget to live as God intended and look to Him to lead us.
Meyer looks at topics such as stress, learning how to rest, taking care of your body and listening to it, staying strong spiritually, keeping your mind and body active, and realizing it’s never too late to do some thing new, exciting, and great.
One thing I’ve noticed is that while I am itching to do things, travel, and enjoy life, my husband is not. He is at a different place in his life. I have to learn to not take it personally and just go do things that I want to do whether it’s with friends or by myself.
I’ve decided that’s what I’m going to do. Life is too short and with God’s grace I still have a lot of years left in me and I don’t want to waste them.
Sitting around waiting for the day to end so I can go to bed is not how I want to live my life. This book is a fabulous reminder to give ourselves permission we need to take care of ourselves, our family, our mental, spiritual, and physical being, and always be thankful for it.
A wonderful gift for Mother’s Day and a fabulous reminder that age is only a number. I will continue to keep fighting against aging for as long as I live and just be who I need to be, me. Unapologetically.
Great topic we all need to embrace!
