I am excited to share that my blanket is complete!
Over the past few months, I have given you some glimpses of my work in progress, but today I am excited to share the completed project.
This is a full size blanket that is the perfect size for laying on the couch or using as an additional blanket on the bed for those cold nights. It is warm but not too thick. It is long and cozy!
Full Blanket in V Stitch Double Crochet
This was crafted using a V stich double crochet. I love this stitch as it looks beautiful and it requires minimal counting! The only counting on this one is to get the foundation chain to an even number.
This one I actually crocheted length-wise as I made my foundation too long! I started with a chain of 224 and once I was halfway through, I realized this was going to be a monster! So, I just kept going until I got the length I liked.
Now it is the right size for men and me! Long enough to cover toes and all of the important parts. The stripes now go up and down instead of across and I love it. See the image below for the full effect!
Materials
I used:
- Joann’s Big Twist yarn in the Shine – Sage and Silver
- 9 skeins of green and 4 silver
- H hook for this 3 ply yarn
Total cost is about $60 – watch the sales for the yarn! The materials I got for the next blanket I am working on now were $50! It will be a smaller size for my friend.
I followed the directions for the V Stitch from Daisy Craft Farms on Youtube as she makes it so easy to follow her patterns. I adore this stitch! There is one last thing I am going to add to this and that is tassels for the corners. I think it needs it. I was thinking about one more round of single crochet on the border too, just to add a bit more oomph!
What do you think? Do it or leave it as is?
