Crimson Summer by Heather Graham: Review

Crimson Summer by Heather Graham cover and review

It has been over a year since I read the prequel to this upcoming release. Yikes! That is the tough part about getting involved in a series! The length of time between books can make you crazy!

I really enjoyed the story and the connection between the characters so being able to review for you the next book in the lineup was worth the wait. Publishing soon, check out my thoughts below.

OVERVIEW:

They’re not going down without a fight.

When FDLE special agent Amy Larson discovers a small horse figurine amid the bloody aftermath of a gang massacre in the Everglades, she recognizes it immediately. The toy is the calling card of the apocalypse cult that Amy and her partner, FBI special agent Hunter Forrest, have been investigating, and it can only mean one thing: this wasn’t an isolated skirmish—it was the beginning of a war.

As tensions between rival gangs rise, so does the body count, and Amy and Hunter’s investigation leads them to a violent, far-right extremist group who are in no hurry to quell the civil unrest. With a deadly puppet master working to silence their every lead, it’s a race against the clock to figure out who’s been pulling the strings and put a stop to the escalating cartel turf war before the Everglades run red.

Crimson Summer by Heather Graham Review

I really enjoy books laced with crime, thrills, and suspense. Add some police procedurals in there and I am a happy girl. This book and series are hitting the mark on all counts.

This story is one that you definitely need to read book one before diving into this one. It is part two of a four-part series and not for the faint of heart.

Graham is liberal with her descriptions of the raw and gritty crime scenes. The reality of murder and destruction of people and families. The hate and intensity of a gang war. She imagery she crafts dig deep into your soul.

But she also adds levity and lightness with a love connection and friendships that offer a great balance. Crimson Summer is unique in its plot and the twists she loads throughout keep you off balance in the race against time.

Great pacing with addictive qualities that make this one tough to put down! Definitely one to grab, after reading book one, of course!!
