I got to sink my teeth into a police procedural murder mystery over the holiday. It was actually very good and I had a tough time putting it down.
For me, that’s always a mark of a great story and I’m excited to share my thoughts and this review for you.

ABOUT:
When one of Randi Conway’s psychotherapy patients is found dead of a gunshot wound, the investigation is turned over to Detective Robbie Whyte. A former New York City cop, Whyte now serves on the police force of an affluent community in Fairfield County, Connecticut. He lives among the privileged gentry, where he understands that appearances are often far removed from reality. This certainly proves to be true in the death of Elizabeth Knoebel, who had been keeping a private journal entitled “Sexual Rites.” As Whyte uncovers more and more of the secrets of Elizabeth’s memoir, he becomes convinced that her killer is tied to Randi Conway’s patients, endangering Conway’s life, as well. Will he decipher the diary and find the killer in time to save her?
Crimes and Passion by Jeffery S. Stephens
One of the first things that struck me about this new to me author was the fact that he managed to grab my attention from the very beginning.
This author pens a graphic story about love, lust, murder, and crime in an upscale neighborhood with one common denominator; a psychologist.
An intriguing twist to this cop fiction murder mystery grabs your attention and really doesn’t let you go until you close the cover. Stephens manages to bring intricate detail into the story. Even the detective has endearing qualities that make him likable and extremely effective at his job.
With plenty of suspects and intertwining lives, the author ups the ante with a mysterious diary that contains explicit detail about each of the suspects. Full of lusty stories that could make people nervous, suddenly there are additional crimes occurring in the panic.
The ending is a wonderful surprise in that it’s refreshing to think you know who did it but in reality, it’s someone completely different. A thoroughly engrossing novel that it’s not only tough to put down but keeps you thinking along the way.
I am excited about this fabulous new literary find who will be one to watch!
