I can’t believe I forgot to share with you the fun activity that I did over the holidays.
I was looking for some thing to gift to my coworkers that wasn’t overly expensive but yet was something original and different. So my friend and I decided to create these cute Christmas decorative picture frames that can be used on your desk or mantel, or anywhere for decorative purposes.
You won’t even believe how simple these were! I will include a supplies list below.
Christmas Picture Frames Craft Project
What I did was go to Hobby Lobby and I found these picture 5 x 7 frames with the flat surface. These were perfect for allowing enhancements to the frame.
So I chose Christmas cards, either used or new will work. By the way, if they’re used, make sure to remove the message from the inside and just use the cover.
One of the frames actually uses Christmas fabric instead of a card! It was a cool choice. The second frame I made with fabric, I did not like as much as the fabric was thinner and you could see through it once it was attached to the backing, so I ditched that one and used a card.
Then I matched bows and decorative elements from picks, garlands, or tree ornaments to attach to the frames with my handy-dandy glue gun.
This was a fun activity that really didn’t take very long. What took the longest was matching the decorative elements to the card and the placement of the decoration.
I love all of the different bows. The flat silver star pieces were by far the easiest to use and attach. But because of the flat frame, I could use pieces of garland and different pieces of decorative picks. It was fun.
So start scoping out decorative pieces that you can use for application on these picture frames. Hobby Lobby or Michaels is a good starting point.
I got the frames on sale, of course, 50% off at Hobby Lobby, so each frame was about five bucks. Then add in the greeting cards and the decorations. All in all, we’re looking at maybe 7 to 8 dollars per frame, if that.
I hope you like this crafty idea. It’s a fun activity with older kids or girlfriends to get together and create and be crafty on a cold afternoon.
PS – Also think about doing this for Valentine’s Day, Easter, or a special gift for someone close to you.
Happy Crafting!
