April 19, 1995 is a date that has gone down in infamy. It is the date when the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was bombed, resulting in the loss of 168 men, women, and children. Time stood still at 9:02 am when the blast occurred and the memorial reflects the last moment of peace at 9:01 and 9:03, when recovery began.

The message below is seen at the memorial in hopes that those that come to honor and remember can take comfort in the space.

We come here to remember those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever. May all who leave here know the impact of violence. May this memorial offer comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity.

This memorial is a place of peace and as you take the time to wander through the chairs that memorialize those that passed, you can take the time to reflect and even say a prayer for the families affected as well as your own.

The site also offers a self guided tour of the museum about the bombing and information about the victims.

If you are passing through OKC or are visiting, this is a place to add to your list. It is worth the time, even if it is just for self reflection and celebration of life.
