I have been working hard at getting my weight loss moving. I have been at a plateau for months now, gaining and losing the same 10 lbs and frankly, I am done with it! I have so much more to lose, I really need to push myself to get this loss moving.
So what I have been doing is playing with my food intake and switching things around with that. Plus I have added some new HIIT moves to my pool exercises and routines. What I have found is that just this week I have lost 4 lbs and only have .6 oz to go until I am in the downward mode again. Thank goodness! But what I have also found is that I have to do a lot of HIIT for my body to release this weight.
So I am sure you have been wondering what is HIIT and how it works in exercise.
HIIT stands for high intensity interval training. What that means is is that you do short bursts of high intensity forms of exercise combined with your slower, longer intervals.
For instance, if you are walking at a normal pace, you would break out into a run for 30 seconds or so and then slow back down to your walk. You would repeat this several times in your workout.
HIIT is known to help burn more fat, increase your endurance and even build up the muscle at a faster rate. For me, it helps me release weight too!
Some popular forms of HIIT can be box jumping or jumping rope. These will increase your cardio to the max and help burn that fat. You can also use it in the pool, like I do, by including jumping with high knees, jumping with twists, jumping with straight leg kicks and even back butt kicks. These all raise the cardio level of my workout and I do them for almost an hour at a time intermixed with other movements for a total workout of about 75 minutes daily.
While it is exhausting, I am seeing the results I need, finally! People have been losing weight and getting into shape quicker using HIIT workouts like these. If you have not added them to your workout and feel stagnant, try some short bursts of cardio intervals in your workout.
