Echo: Hold by Delta James: Review

If you’ve been following my reviews, you probably realize that romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres to read, especially if it includes military or a similar type of action.

The tension, suspense, and action heighten the reader experience, then throw in great romance, for me, that’s a winning story. This author has some great stories to tell. I’m sharing my thoughts and review below for this new release.

Echo: Hold by Delta James
Series: Men of Echo Ridge Book 4
ASIN: ‎ B0G4NM9YKC
Publication date: ‎ January 9, 2026

OVERVIEW:
Some missions protect the world. This one protects my family.

I walked away from Rachel Donovan eight years ago, thinking distance would keep her safe.
I was wrong.

Her son just witnessed a Committee execution, and now they’re hunting them both. Protecting them is the mission… but the moment Rachel opens the door, I know it’s more than that.

I’ll hold the line.
I’ll hold Lucas safe.
And this time, I’m not letting her go.

Echo: Hold by Delta James Review

I love a great romantic suspense book that brings in military or similar aspects. Sometimes it’s tough to find a great balance between the romance and the action in the suspense portion.

Some authors don’t do it well, but then others find a great balance. This author has shown that balance in this new release.

I think this is the first book I’ve read by James, and she delivers a story loaded with action, suspense, romantic interludes, and a great plot that keeps you interested and flipping the pages quickly.

The character development was deep, although I wanted to know a bit more about the main character’s history. I enjoyed all of the secondary characters, too. They are cross-overs from past books in the series and added to the depth of the story.

A few areas in the story had some quirks, and I think a run through by an editor would catch some of the inconsistencies that are annoying and break your flow through the story.

Overall, Echo: Hold has a great blend of building suspense that is well-paced. The romance between characters is believable, and Stryker is an awesome MMC- steamy and uber protective, just the way we like ’em.

3.5 rolled to 4 STARS!!
