I treated myself to these amazing amaryllis bulbs this holiday season. I’m so excited that they are blooming and looking so amazing right now.
The red one had a little bit of a head start and I didn’t actually get them until the first part of December so the fact that they’re doing so well right now is awesome.
I love these because the are super easy to grow. No water just a nice diffused sunlight in a coolish room. These were the wax covered amaryllis bulbs, so you simply put them where you want them, as is. No planting!
Plus, they make a great gift and even for someone that has a black thumb. There’s no way you can kill these babies. Just remember no water. The wax holds the moisture in from the grower. I gave these to several friends last year. They are an affordable and surprising gift.
The blooms stay for approximately 3 to 4 weeks and then you can just discard the bulb or save it. This article describes the care for the bulb after blooming and how to save it for another year or propagating it.
I love this and hope to continue to do it each holiday season. Such a simple treat! I believe I paid eight dollars per bulb. So worth it for the pleasure and beauty during the holiday season.
