Have you ever read a book that hit perfectly with every single page? If you’re like me, there are some pieces in a story that maybe I don’t like or just doesn’t hit the right way. It’s rare when something is just so right for you and what you enjoy in a story.
I’ve read several Lynn Painter books now and I couldn’t pass up this re-release of this book. Oh my gosh! I loved it so much so you have to check out my thoughts below.
Accidentally Amy by Lynn Painter
Publisher: Berkley
Pub Date: January 14, 2025
ISBN-13: 978-0593817087
SYNOPSIS:
Isabella Shay is usually a very honest person. But when she’s running late for her first day at her dream job and the barista yells for “Amy” three times with no answer, she does the unthinkable.
Izzy takes that PSL.
It’s the exact drink she ordered and paid for, only way further ahead in the queue—and she’ll take whatever bad karma is coming for her; she’s desperate and very late. But when she turns around and runs directly into the most attractive man she’s ever seen, spilling the drink all over his made-for-GQ shirt and tie, she ends up having the ultimate meet-cute. Karma who? Sparks fly and things feel beyond promising, until he says to her: “See you tomorrow, Amy.”
Izzy reasons she can just straighten things out the next day, no biggie. Only when she gets to her new office and meets the VP of her department, it is none other than Blake Phillips—the hottie from Starbucks. And the man might’ve been charming to “Amy,” but he is an arrogant grump to Izzy, an arrogant grump who does not find her explanation funny at all. But day by day, an attraction simmers between them and they’ll have to find a way to work together without ripping each other’s heads—or clothes—off.
Accidentally Amy by Lynn Painter Review
I have a confession to make. I have decided that I really do not like romcoms that are focused around a girl and a group of her girlfriends with the “oh my God” drama and “what should I do” scenarios. I think that’s why this book hit me so perfectly.
The character of Izzy a.k.a. Amy, is structured perfectly. She’s a little quirky and odd. Her best friends are her cousins who are guys and that is an awesome balance for her.
The plot is typical where you totally have a connection with this hot guy, and then come to find out, he’s your Admin VP direct report on the organizational chart at your brand new job.
But the method that Painter uses for their connection is through texting as the people they were before they knew they were coworkers.
It sounds a little wacky, but she totally blends it beautifully, and you just fall in love with these two people and who they are becoming. They’re perfect for each other. Their wit is addicting and the whole book just makes you smile.
Their connection grows through everyday life and not through sex and high drama. But even the drama that comes in the story is not long-winded. The angst is low, which I love, but it’s easily worked through, again what I love.
Accidentally Amy is the total package. Painter creates a magical romance that is so believable and so right from the start. Funny, sexy, perfectly characterized, and synced. I cannot get enough of her stories!
