Beautiful Secret by Christina Lauren
Series: The Beautiful Series (Book 8)
Publisher: Gallery Books (April 14, 2015)
ISBN-13: 978-1476778006
Synopsis:
When Ruby Miller’s boss announces he’s sending her on an extended business trip to New York City, she’s shocked. As one of the best and brightest young engineers in London, she knows she’s professionally up to the task. The part that’s throwing her is where she’ll be spending a month up close and personal working alongside—and staying in a hotel with—Niall Stella, her firm’s top urban planning executive and The Hottest Man Alive. Despite her ongoing crush, Ruby is certain Niall barely knows she’s alive…until their flirty overnight flight makes him sit up and take notice.
Not one for letting loose and breaking rules, recently divorced Niall would describe himself as hopeless when it comes to women. But even he knows outgoing California-girl Ruby is a breath of fresh air. Once she makes it her mission to help the sexy Brit loosen his tie, there’s no turning back. Thousands of miles from London, it’s easy for the lovers to play pretend. But when the trip is over, will the relationship they’ve built up fall down?
My Thoughts on Beautiful Secret by Christina Lauren:
There is something fun about a secret love from afar. I am sure you remember having a major crush on someone when you were young. Grabbing glimpses of that certain someone that made your heart pound and you sweat just a bit. And if that person of your desire happened to glance your way, you would get embarrassed and not acknowledge them at all. This book brings all of those memories of young love back with a hot flash, wrapped in an enticing read you will not want to put down.
This book by the writing duo, Christina Lauren, is written in the same way as the others in the “Beautiful Series”. You have chapters in her voice and other chapters in his voice. I love that method because you get to see and feel both characters without confusion. You get the in depth look at the relationship and storyline with two vantage points and that allows a beautiful creation of the story.
While this book is a part of a series, this being book 8, this one can really be read as a standalone without much confusion. Some of the main characters from the series do pop in and out, as Niall’s brother Max was the “star” of Beautiful Beloved, book 7, but who they are is clearly and easily defined.
The fun twist in Beautiful Secret is that the guy is more innocent than he seems and even though he is recently divorced, he has a real lack of confidence. I love the way Ruby leads the way and showed him the ropes, so to speak. This book is tender, sweet, and includes a lot of the steam and passion that we love in a great romance.
For a hot read on the lazy evening, this book needs to be on your reading list, along with the rest of the series. This one does not disappoint!
