My Issue With Plus Size Swimsuits

My Issue With Plus Size Swimsuits

I have a rant today. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I do a lot of my workouts in the water. Aqua aerobics really is so beneficial for midlife and beyond women and men.

It is so easy on our joints. You’re able to get in a really hard workout without injuring yourself. I wish that pools were more readily available for everyone. I’m very blessed to have a pool in my yard.

However, my rant today is about swimsuits for working out. Especially if you are overweight and wear a plus size.

My Issue With Plus Size Swimsuits

Over the past week I have searched I don’t know how many websites for plus size women swimsuits. Most of what I’ve been seeing is absolutely ridiculous. Hundreds of swimsuits with skirts on them.

We’re not in the water for a beauty pageant. All that extra material is a pain in the ass. I bought one once because “it was cute” and in the style of the time, or so I was lead to believe by the manufacturer, and I threw it in the trash after the first use. I couldn’t stand it.

All I see is hundreds and hundreds of swimsuits that are not made for actually swimming. The over the shoulder swimsuit has got to be the stupidest style, next to the swim dress, that I’ve ever seen.

The straps continually fall off your shoulders so you can’t actually swim in the damn things. And it is sad to say that has been the style for YEARS and they suck!

I have always lean towards a halter style or a sport style that actual swimmers wear. But finding one of those is like pulling teeth unless you’re ready to spend $100-$200. Yes! No, I am not kidding. $200. I don’t think so.

And finally today I found one style of suit that I would consider buying. It was affordable. And it had somewhat of a racer type strap back to it. Plus, I was able to get it on sale, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have purchased it.

I found it at Always For Me which caters to the plus size woman. But 99% of their styles were either too expensive or not made for actually swimming.

I’m sorry. When I get in the water I’m working out. I’m not sitting there like a little princess just getting wet. So hey! Swimsuit manufacturer’s, how about getting us some damn suits for working out!

Who’s with me on this? I know I cannot be the only person having this problem.

OK end of rant. I’ll let you know how the suit works out.
