This week I have been visiting my homestead in Minnesota. It is always a bittersweet visit because my Dad is aging. Yes, it is a fact of life, but that does not make it any easier to leave.
But on a good note, I love coming to where the air is fresh and clean. Where the fish are jumping and the house welcomes you with comfort and memories of my mom.
There is nothing better than listening to the wildlife and finding the paths they leave as they go to the lake to get a drink. The song of the loon and the ultimate peace here. I am so relaxed; I always wonder why I live where I do.
We will be heading out soon, working our way to OKC to visit other friends and family. A stop or two along the way at national parks will also be on the agenda.
Summer is a favorite time to travel, and frankly, I have not been out enough lately, especially here. There is nothing like lake living up north Minnesota. It is going to be so hard to leave! I am crying already.
What memories are you creating this summer?
