I had the best time yesterday. I met up with a very good friend of mine whom I have known for probably 35 years or so. We never really lost contact. However, I moved two hours away years ago and we just never got together. Very sad and stupid of us, but, we rectify that yesterday.
We met in the middle, found a nice restaurant, and talked for four hours. It was so awesome to reconnect with her and catch up on life other than the few minutes here and there every couple of years.
A lot of what we spoke about was diet and health though. The struggle of losing weight and staying healthy in our middle ages as we are working. Understanding that we have to get healthy now as every passing year makes it harder and harder.
My friend has having the same struggles as I, however, she has issues with her thyroid and liver, both of which are important in your health and fat loss functions. She is actually doing a weight loss protocol through her osteopath that focuses on cleaning her liver.
So I did some research today and found out a lot of what we talked about and what she is going through is exactly right. Your liver is the main organ that works on fat and weight loss. If it is not working right, guess what? We’re not losing weight. We cave to our cravings. We lose weight and gain it right back.
Hello… been there and done that so many times!
A few of the main culprits for clogging our liver is high fructose corn syrup, fried foods, trans fats, and excessive meat consumption.
So now I have a new focus. Cleaning up my diet again, continuing with my cleansing tea, eating more greens and less meat so I can reduce my calorie intake.
Her program is very low cal to kick start her weight loss and clean up her liver. I am not going to be doing it as extreme as she, but it is smart.
I will never give up the fight but I think I learned a little bit more about how our body filters and cleans, which inspires me to switch my eating around again. Someday I know I’ll find the right balance for me.
What do you think?
