Kiss the Girl by Tara Sivec: Review

Kiss the Girl by Tara Sivec - A Midlife Wife

Tara Sivec is a relatively new author for me. I have read and reviewed one of her other books in the Naughty Princess Club series. So naturally when the next was available, I knew I had to review it to find out what happened in the rest of the story.

The series has a humorous theme and I was looking forward to getting a few laughs. Sivec’s writing definitely hit that mark. Here are my thoughts on this new release.

ABOUT:
While her friends have broken free of their insecurities, Ariel Waters is struggling to come out of her shell. Her ex-husband took away her voice and her self-confidence, and Ariel is drowning under a sea of debt to afford the alimony she has to pay him. She refuses to ever fall for a man’s charms again, and is determined to make her own way.

When her house and her beloved antiques are taken by the bank after too many missed payments, Ariel finds herself adrift until the infuriatingly charming Eric Sailor comes to her rescue. Although she can’t stand the millionaire playboy, Eric’s kindness and unconditional support reveal hidden depths and a love that Ariel never imagined she could find.

But there are outside influences who will stop at nothing to keep them apart; can Ariel and Eric weather the storm and find a way to be together in Kiss the Girl?

The other book in the series I read was In Bed with the Beast which I truly enjoyed so I was looking forward to the final friend and colleague in the Naughty Princess Club.

Ariel was the driving force of the club and business but I did not warm up to her easily. While some of the sarcasm and mouthyness was humorous, I often thought through the book that I don’t think I would want a friend who would talk to me the way she talked to her friends.

In fact, I am not sure when the loud, rude, bitch factor became acceptable. I don’t see anything attractive about that.

Don’t get me wrong. The story is a great story. Eric is the one who saved the story for me. In so many ways he was behind the scenes but he deeply cared for Ariel and balanced out her dramatic mouth and life. He changed her and gave her back her life.

There were a few memorable scenes in this book that also totally make Kiss the Girl worthwhile to read. The author did a great job with the humor, and the empowerment of women portion of the book, as well as the series all together. I liked that the books can be read as stand-alone’s but as in all series, reading them all will give you a wonderful, complete picture.

I’m sure my thoughts on Ariel are not going to be popular. However, I think it is important to say that having a character acting out, being rude and bitchy to friends who are trying to help takes away from the story. I understand people in pain, but acting this way in terms of trying to be humorous is not funny to me.

Overall, I love the concept of the books and this story has a ton of great moments and some delicious heat in it. Ariel’s character was the one I had difficulty with. If you love a strong girl tribe and hottie men that go long with it, this is a great book to grab!
