This weekend I made it a priority to hit up the farmers market in my town to see what is fresh now that the temperature has been warming up a bit. Sometimes it is a surprise to find some wonderful veggies, fruits, and nuts of all sorts.
Farmer’s Market Finds for May
This week, I found several more vendors showcasing their wares. We had some green beans, red onions, zucchini, yellow squash, and cucumbers. Another vendor offered plenty of assorted greens like collard, assorted leafy lettuces, and spinach. Another grower had spring onions, Easter radishes, rainbow carrots, and other greens too. There was even some strawberries that were deliciously sweet.
I grabbed some of the berries for my breakfast and, of course, the rainbow carrots. Perfect for snacking and juicing. I held off on the greens as I still had some at home. One thing I learned, you have to use the fresh produce immediately or it goes bad quickly.
I just love going to the market early in the morning before my household is up. I get to enjoy the cool morning, shop in peace, and get some goodies too. What more could anyone want?
