The SugarHouse Blues by Mariah Stewart: Book Review

The SugarHouse Blues by Mariah Stewart - A Midlife Wife

Sometimes I think I’ve read too many books in the same genre. You know I’m kidding, but sometimes I recognize a theme in someone’s book and swear that is part of another series.

That’s what was going on with this book I was asked to review. I thought for sure I had read the first in the series because the characters sounded so familiar.

However, I have not. But that doesn’t mean I missed anything. Because Mariah Stewart is very good at blending her stories so you can read them in pieces. But any author wants you to read them in order.

This women’s fiction story is the perfect story to enjoy some lazy weekend. Because once you get through this book you won’t be bored anymore. Here are my thoughts on this new release.

ABOUT:
Allie, Des, and Cara, each having her own reasons for wanting a share of their father’s estate, meet in the grand Victorian home in which he grew up, only to be greeted by another secret he purposely hid from them: his sister Bonnie. The women reluctantly band together to take on Fritz’s challenge, working with a local contractor to begin the renovations financed by an account Fritz had set up for the task. While the restoration appears to go smoothly at first, it soon becomes apparent that the work will be more extensive than originally thought, and Des, elected to handle the money, needs to find ways to stretch out the remaining savings while searching for new sources of funding.

As strangers linked only by their DNA try to become a family, the Hudson sisters also try to come to terms with the father they only thought they knew. In the process, each woman discovers her own capacity for understanding, forgiveness, love, and the true meaning of family.

The SugarHouse Blues by Mariah Stewart – Book Review

Sometimes we need a break from all the stress and craziness of the day. Picking up a new women’s fiction story is a perfect way to set the mood.

Mariah Stewart has written so many books that you almost don’t know where to start. However, she is bringing us a brand new series called The Hudson Sisters and it is a interesting delightful look at an estranged family forced together under interesting circumstances.

The author showcases each character with their own special quirks and talents. She is wonderful at blending these into the story and making it come to life.

With the sisters focusd on re-creating a legacy in their hometown, we are also treated to a little hints of romance sprinkled the along way. Just enough to make it interesting and a beautiful story.

A solid writer with so much talent, Mariah Stewart crafts wonderful stories that take us away to small-town America and build strong families we wish we were a part of.
