The Code Red Revolution by Cristy Nickel: Review

The Code Red Revolution by Cristy Nickel - book review

With the holidays here, I shared an article by an author that really inspired me. 7 Strategies to Not Overindulge During Holidays lead me to want to check out her book.

I’ve tried for years to get rid of the extra weight that has stuck around my entire adult life. Actually I should clarify that. I was always bigger than average, even as a child.

Always the tallest girl and built like a brick outhouse, as the saying goes. Even when I was teenager and had stopped growing taller, I was extremely muscular and solid. Bigger than my sister, she used to make a joke about me being her “little“ sister.

While I should have embraced my athletic build, I was embarrassed all the time about how much bigger I was than the other girls. They were slender and dainty. I was normal sized but muscular and just plain bigger.

Looking back, I think that always bothered me which led me to just giving in to being the bigger girl. Now I am Definitely the bigger girl and have been for years. However, getting it off and trying to be a normal person again is extremely difficult and frustrating.

When you try and try and try for years and years only to lose weight and gain weight again and again, you just give up. I was tired of always fighting.

But now I’m ready to try to get going again, I hope, for the last time.

Over the past few years I have been working hard towards changing my diet. By removing most of the carbs and juicing, I was able to lose 63 pounds. But then the sugar addiction reared it’s ugly head again and I’m back fighting against gaining more weight again.

The Code Red Revolution by Cristy Nickel: Review

As I was reading her book I was inspired by simple straightforward approach. You set the rules and you just live by them. It’s a mindset. It’s a fight. But it’s a fight you can win with her easy plan.

What I like is the food you can eat is extremely simple to remember. You don’t have to refer back to a list to see if this is an approved food. You know what you can have and that’s what you eat. Period.

The book is full of tips and real talk. Cristy pulls no punches and lays it out the way it needs to be said – This is what you eat. This is what you do. No questions. Sometimes I think we need that rigid guidelines yet flexibility within the food choices to make you successful.

Speaking of success, the book also includes plenty of success stories from other people that give you the hope and belief that this really can be the lifestyle eating plan that will change your life.

Cristy is very smart about her approach to being overweight and the health risks that come with that. Her advice is to focus on the food first. You have to be comfortable with eating changes and as you start to lose weight you will feel better overall and about yourself. Then is the time you can add an exercise or weightlifting, if you choose.

This book leaves you feeling inspired and ready to tackle this high fat low-carb lifestyle. I have been researching a ketonic diet for a while I know of many professional trainers and bodybuilders that use this type of plan. They are healthy and full of energy and that’s what I deserve too.

If you’re ready to make a change, do yourself a favor and grab this book. The perfect gift to yourself or someone you love is the gift of health. I’m gifting that to myself starting today. I hope you can too.
