I have a confession to make. I love devotionals. I discovered them when I was a young teenager and I would pick up the monthly devotional booklets from church. Each month I would look forward to getting the next one. Now these are in three months packets and I still enjoy reading them. However I now supplement with beautiful devotional books like the one I as able to review. From the 5 Minutes with Jesus series, comes a new publication:
5 Minutes with Jesus: Peace for Today by Sheila Walsh
Series: 5 Minutes With Jesus
Publisher: Thomas Nelson (March 8, 2016)
ISBN-10: 0718032551
Jesus wants you to know peace—every day.
Deadlines and bills, illnesses and fears about the future, frustrations with others and ourselves . . . there’s enough going on in our lives to make us feel overwhelmed and anxious, if not panicked! But Jesus said that we could expect this, that trials and sorrows are simply part of life on earth, and He offers an amazing gift that changes everything: His peace. He tells us, “The peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27 nlt).
Bestselling author Sheila Walsh wants to guide you in worrying less and letting your heart be settled. Each reading includes messages such as:
* Gratitude opens doors out of bitterness and doors into joy.
* God loves you for who you are, not what you do.
* Resting in the purpose and presence of God brings peace.
* It’s amazing what God will do with a broken life when we give Him all the pieces.
* No matter how big the storm, God is bigger.
The 5 Minutes with Jesus series is the perfect way to start your day with peace of mind and a peaceful heart.
My Thoughts on 5 Minutes with Jesus: Peace for Today by Sheila Walsh
When I received this new release I was so excited to sit down and discover this collection of devotional stories. It’s perfect for those few minutes you have to sit and relax. The very first two devotionals I read spoke just to me.
With short reads followed by several scriptures, each story is devoted to an issue that we run into in life. One that I could relate to immediately was the story called No One Prepared Me for This. The author spoke of having to drop her son off at college and the emotions we go through. This is something I am dealing with myself and definitely not looking forward to him growing up and leaving the nest.
I was also thrilled to receive this beautiful coffee mug from Northern Exposure Pottery by Jim Bjork engraved with the five-minute emblem. Perfect to accompany my reading time in the morning as I watch the new day dawn and enjoy my time with Jesus and sip my coffee.
Whether you are looking for a gift for someone special or a beautiful devotional you can enjoy yourself, you have to check out the 5 Minutes with Jesus series and this new release Peace for Today by Sheila Walsh. Perfect for those few minutes in the morning before the day starts or at the end of the day when all is quiet and you can think and be at peace. I love this awesome devotional! So fitting with my life today!
